Dear Congregants and Friends,
We are pleased to announce that Cantor Avinoam Sharon will return to be our chazzan, working closely with us to make our High Holiday experience meaningful and spiritually uplifting. Cantor Sharon looks forward to reprising our favourite High Holiday tunes, and also teaching us a few new ones.
This year the big change will be the look of the Main Sanctuary. We have been strongly advised that, for safety reasons, the wall dividing the sanctuary from the Social Hall must not be taken down. To accommodate the needs of those members who for health reasons have been sitting in the hard-back chairs set up in the Social Hall, the fixed seats in the last two rows in the middle section of the sanctuary will be removed, and hard backed chairs put in their place. The Seating Committee has made every effort to make as few changes as possible, and to inform those members who will be directly affected by the changes. We thank everyone for their understanding and co-operation.
As in previous years, the enclosed seating order form suggests two opportunities to do a mitzvah: the opportunity to donate and dedicate a machzor in honour or memory of a loved one, and the opportunity to sponsor a seat for someone who cannot afford one. If you know someone who would appreciate an invitation to our services, please let us know and we will be happy to include them.
We are pleased to be able to offer you quality family and youth programming, concurrent with our regular services on both days of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur. Once again, the Family Service on second day of Rosh Hashanah will feature children’s entertainer, David Gershon. High Holiday seats include admission to the Family Service. For those not purchasing seats, admission to the Family Services is $36 per family (two adults and children). As seating is limited, we need to know how many people will attend. Please indicate on page 2 of the seating form how many individuals will be attending each of the Family Services.
For more information, please e-mail Einav Symons at: email@example.com.
Please return your seating forms by August 16th to hhdseating@bethjacobsynagogue.
On behalf of the Beth Jacob team, we hope that you have a relaxing and enjoyable summer.
