Beth Jacob Synagogue

We seek to create a caring community, rich with spiritual, and social opportunities enriching our lives. We are deeply committed to Jewish law and tradition.

Beth Jacob Synagogue
Located in the heart of Hamilton, Ontario, we are a traditional, egalitarian congregation, deeply committed to fostering Jewish observance and learning in an atmosphere of mutual respect and tolerance.

We view Jewish learning as a lifelong process: we are committed to providing broad-ranging learning opportunities for congregants of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

Through learning, prayer, social action and outreach, we seek consistently to reinforce the basic principals on which we frame our behavior with one another and with the community at large.

Our Vision Statement:
  • To be a dynamic, vital, egalitarian Conservative synagogue meeting the spiritual needs of the Beth Jacob and Hamilton Jewish community throughout all stages of the life cycle.
  • To encourage and facilitate extensive lay participation in all aspects of synagogue life.
  • To be an institution that fosters membersą deepening connection to Judaism through prayer and ritual, education, culture, social activities, volunteerism, and social action.
  • To ensure Jewish education for our children, and to encourage adults, children and families together to continue their Jewish education in ways that nurture and support their efforts to find meaning in their lives.
  • To transmit our values, beliefs, and traditions to the next generation.
  • To provide individuals and families with opportunities for involvement in community service, social justice, Tzedakah and Tikkun Olam.
  • To highlight and emphasize the unique and relevant ideology and perspective that Conservative Judaism brings to our lives.
  • To further the causes of the Jewish people and the State of Israel.

Our clergy, staff and lay leadership are dedicated to serving the entire synagogue community. Click here to see a listing of our clergy, staff and lay leadership (Board of Trustees and Honorary Trustees).
